Emotional Intelligence for Leaders course cover, Camderson Academy

The hardest moments at work are rarely about the work itself.

01

Reacting before thinking

A sharp email, a public question, a schedule change. The reply goes out in seconds, and the relationship pays for it for weeks.

02

Guessing what others feel

A short message reads as rude, a quiet colleague reads as fine. Guesses about other people's feelings are often wrong, and they shape what we say next.

03

Problems nobody raises

People hold back ideas and bad news when it does not feel safe to speak up. Small problems grow quietly until they cannot be ignored.

Learning outcomes

What you will be able to do

Eight practical outcomes, each practiced in an exercise and checked in the final assessment or the capstone.

  1. Explain what emotional intelligence is and is not, and where the research agrees and disagrees.
  2. Build self-awareness by naming emotions precisely and learning how you come across.
  3. Pause and choose your response instead of reacting on reflex.
  4. Recognize stress signals and personal triggers, and respond with a plan.
  5. Recognize emotions in others without guessing, and show empathy that helps.
  6. Communicate clearly and handle conflict with a cool head.
  7. Shape the tone of meetings, build trust and make it safe to speak up.
  8. Turn these skills into small daily habits that last.

The Camderson method

Simple tools for the moments that matter most

The Four Skill Map, the Name It Check-In and Pause and Choose

Notice in me · Steer in me · Body · Word · Strength · Message · Need · Pause · Name · Reframe · Choose

Name what you feel in about a minute, then widen the gap between feeling and response.

The Trigger Map, Notice, Wonder, Ask and the Empathy Bridge

Trigger · Story · Signal · Reflex · If-then · Notice · Wonder · Ask · Listen · Reflect · Check

Understand your triggers, check before you assume and listen until people feel understood.

The Steady Message, the Cool Conflict Path and the Ripple Check

Facts · Impact · Intent · Invite · Next step · Cool down · Get curious · Common ground · Choose together

Say what matters calmly, keep conflict about the problem and shape the tone of every meeting.

The Trust Ledger, Speak Up Signals and the Daily EI Practice Plan

Ability · Care · Integrity · Ask first · Thank the messenger · Cue · If-then · Tiny practice · Review

Keep promises people can see, make it safe to speak up and turn the tools into daily habits.

Notice. Pause. Choose. Practice.
