See what matters at a glance. Know what to do next.

A practical, self-paced course for every person on every team who chooses, reports or acts on numbers. Pick the few KPIs that really show progress, define them so everyone reads them the same way, build a one-screen dashboard in a spreadsheet, and run reviews that turn the numbers into owned actions.

About 4 hours · 9 lessons with video · Intermediate · No statistics background needed · Self-paced · A working dashboard workbook you keep · 30-day money-back guarantee

KPIs and Performance Dashboards course cover

Plenty of numbers. Not enough answers.

01

Reports nobody reads

Monthly reports grow one measure at a time until no one can tell, at a glance, whether things are getting better.

02

Numbers that mean different things

Two teams calculate the same measure two ways, so meetings turn into debates about the data instead of decisions about the work.

03

Reacting to every red number

A dip in one month sets off a scramble, while real changes go unnoticed, and the meeting ends with "keep an eye on it."

Learning outcomes

What you will be able to do

Nine practical outcomes, each practiced in an exercise and checked in the final assessment or the capstone.

  1. Build a KPI tree that links goals to outcome, driver and leading measures.
  2. Define each KPI so it means one thing, with its formula, source, owner, frequency and direction.
  3. Set baselines, targets and balancing measures that support good work instead of gaming.
  4. Check that the data behind each KPI is fit for its use before it reaches a dashboard.
  5. Plan a one-screen dashboard for a named audience and the decisions it supports.
  6. Build a working dashboard in a spreadsheet with live formulas and clear status rules.
  7. Tell a signal from noise with run chart rules and XmR limits.
  8. Run a performance review that turns signals into owned, dated actions.
  9. Keep a dashboard useful over time with a regular health review and accessible design.

The Camderson method

Teaching tools that turn a pile of numbers into a dashboard your whole team uses

The KPI Tree and the KPI Definition Card

Goal · Outcome · Drivers · Leading measure · Formula · Source · Owner · Frequency · Direction

Choose the few measures that show progress on your goals, and make each one mean exactly one thing.

The Target and Balance Check and the Data Fitness Check

Baseline · Target · Watch band · Easiest way to hit it · Balance · Six data quality dimensions · Quick test · Caveat

Set targets that help people do better work, and trust the data before anyone acts on it.

The Dashboard Layout Plan and the Three-Layer Build

Audience · Decisions · Outcomes on top · Value, target, status, trend · Data · Calc · Dashboard

Design for a glance, then build it with live formulas so nobody types a result by hand.

The Signal Test and the Action Review Agenda

Limits · Shifts · What else changed · Last month's actions · Signals first · Owners and dates · One win

React to real changes, not normal ups and downs, and end every review with clear next steps.

Measure what matters. Read it at a glance. Act on signals.

Curriculum

Inside the course

Three modules, 9 lessons with worked examples and video

01

Choosing KPIs That Matter

Link goals to a few measures with the KPI Tree, make every KPI mean one thing with the KPI Definition Card, and set targets that help rather than hurt with the Target and Balance Check.

02

Building a Dashboard People Use

Check the data with the Data Fitness Check, plan a one-screen view with the Dashboard Layout Plan, and build a working dashboard in a spreadsheet with the Three-Layer Build.

03

From Dashboard to Action

Tell signals from noise with the Signal Test, run reviews that end with owners and dates using the Action Review Agenda, and keep your dashboard healthy with a quarterly KPI Health Review.

Is this course right for you?

This course is for you if

  • You keep a tracker, build a monthly report or sit in a performance review, in any role, team or department
  • You manage or coordinate work and want a short set of measures your team trusts and acts on
  • You want a working dashboard and review routine you can use the week you finish

It is not the right fit if

  • You want a deep course on spreadsheet skills (CA-TD-001 Microsoft Excel for Business covers formulas and charts in depth)
  • You mainly want to build a team scorecard and meeting rhythm for one team (CA-LM-003 Building High-Performing Teams covers the Team Scorecard)
  • You want to use AI tools to analyze data and write reports (CA-AI-006 AI for Data Analysis and Reporting covers that)

Frequently asked questions

Do I need any experience or a previous course?

No. No statistics background is needed, and the course explains every formula it uses. Comfort with basic spreadsheet formulas such as SUM and IF helps in Lesson 2.3.

Who is this course for?

Everyone who chooses, reports or acts on numbers: team members, coordinators, analysts, supervisors and managers in operations, finance, sales, customer service, HR, IT and frontline teams, and owners of small businesses, nonprofits and public services. The example is a moving company, and the tools fit any team.

How long do I have access?

Your access does not expire. We review the course every year, and any updates are added for you at no extra cost.

How long does it take?

About 4 hours in total, including the written lessons and their videos, the Try it exercises, the knowledge checks, the final assessment and the capstone. Everything is self-paced.

Do I have to use my own team for the capstone?

No. You can build your KPI Tree and dashboard for the fictional Ferncliff Public Library included in the course. If you use your own team, leave out confidential figures, customer names and personal details, and show people measures at team level.

Is the certificate accredited, or does it carry professional credit?

Neither. You receive a Camderson Academy Certificate of Completion after passing the final assessment and the capstone, which a person reviews. It is not an academic credential and does not carry continuing education or other professional credit.

Is there a money-back guarantee?

Yes. You are covered by a 30-day money-back guarantee. If the course is not right for you, email connect@camderson.com within 30 days of purchase and we will refund you in full. No questions asked. Your course access ends when the refund is issued.
